“… sanitation and hygiene in the food preparation areas in all three facilities were poor” FDA Ghana gives an update on Marwarko food poisoning.

The food and drugs authority (FDA) Ghana has issued an update on the Marwarko food poisoning incident.

The agency known for prioritizing Ghanaians’ well-being has stated its official social handle to update the public on the food poisoning incident reported to have taken place at the East Legon branch of the Marwarko Fast Food Limited.

In a report issued in two parts the FDA, Ghana disclosed in a paragraph in its report that “Analyses of samples of food, and some juice drinks, and swaps were taken from the environment at the East Legon branch of Marwarko Fast Food Limited indicate that there was heavy microbial load (pathogens) which may be linked to the food borne disease reported.”

The report further stated that “the levels of sanitation and hygiene in the food preparation areas in all three facilities were poor.”
My Cookery Zone Food Media gathered in the issued report by the FDA Ghana that it hasn’t been able to “establish the root cause of the contamination” because the management of Marwarko Fast Food Company destroyed some of the “food items whilst the investigation was still in progress.”

FDA Ghana assured Ghanaians that, “appropriate regulatory sanctions and is also monitoring the implementation of the corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)…”

In the concluding paragraph of the report, the FDA Ghana made it known that “we will continue to closely monitor all activities at Marwarko Fast Foods Limited to ensure compliance to the FDA’s directives…”
The FDA Ghana has, however, suspended catering services within the facility.
