I made a tweet 2017 January after battling through some tough life decision.
I said “ what if we cook for the rich to feed the poor “
That was the day I made the decision to be a chef after confirming Gods prophecy over my life that I’ll feed nations.
After then I went ahead to take some extra cooking class added to the knowledge I already had and exactly June 2017 I started my brand officially as a private Chef.
It’s been a roller coaster of emotions in between the years experiencing different high and low moment and some amazing everyday growth.
Over the years I’ve covered a few ground in the culinary industry which also led me to a pyne award nomination in 2018 as The chef of the year.
In my 3years as a chef I’ve grown from:
Organizing food events
Working as a private chef
Hosting private dinning
Restaurant consultations
Successful corporate catering
Tv cooking platform
Food blogging
And also training multiple students over the years.
I can say Cooking has helped me find my voice and given me hope for the future. There’s a long way to go but I’m so much happy for how much I’ve grown.
•Navhi Ifode
thekitchenkernel
I like to think of myself as an introverted extrovert. I am bubbly when I am with familiar faces and withdrawn when I’m not. I think that paradox pretty much sums me up. Despite being in the food industry for close to 7 years and cooking professionally for about 5, I still consider myself more of a food enthusiast than a Chef. I have other passions which include freelance writing and graphic design but the long hours in the kitchen often keep me from escaping to either. The kitchen kernel is a culinary consultancy and catering outfit I started in 2018. We focus more on the consultancy aspect of the business than catering because I have a deep interest in culinary administration. So if ever you want to have a conversation about menu costing or where you can find a particular ingredient, I’m your guy. Lol

My passion for cooking started at a very early age. My dad thinks it’s about six years, but I literally met myself cooking, so I can’t say the exact age I started. However, what I’m sure of is that the passion and love I have for food from my childhood days to date have not yet changed; in fact, it has continued to grow.
I’m a self-taught baker, though my late grandmother was a baker, and my aunt does the same for a living; however, I did not learn any of my skills from them, so I guess it runs in the blood!
I studied Geology and mineral Science for my first degree but never worked with it (by choice). I got my first job as a Company Restaurant manager before moving to the states to join my husband. When I got to the states, I knew I wanted to grow my passion, and I had to choose between cooking and sewing (Yes, I sew!). I chose cooking, and blogging has since become my outlet to share my recipes.

• Tolulope Fisayo Hassan
Dishesbyth
As a 27 year old entrepreneur, have come to the realization that hustling in a line of work without liking it can only lead to despondency in the long run. My name is Tolulope Hassan and my love for cooking has always been a drive that I know will never cease. This is because I love doing what I do and that makes it easier for me to see it as a way of hustling.
My love for cooking took a more serious turn due to the compliments I got from people after they ate my food. Also working at one of the best locally made food companies in Lagos helped as I became more seasoned in making different dishes pertaining to the different ethnic groups in Nigeria.
Learning from the best is one the best ways of honing your craft and my tears of experience at the renowned food company made me decide that I was ready to open my own brand which lead to the creation of Dishesbyth.
This I did while also pursuing a degree in Book publishing at the Yaba College of Technology. It has not been an easy journey and the road still stretches with a lot of variables still to come into play, but what will always be a constant is my love for cooking.
Dishesbyth is designed to help customers elevate their taste bud with her quality meals at their convenience.
Our meals are freshly and carefully prepared to satisfy cravings.
We sell soup, stew and sauces in bowls, packed food for office lunch and parties, small chops, breakfast and lunch food tray.
We also offer premium catering services.

Ope Farms
Ope Farms started from a very bright idea to produce safe and healthy vegetables and fruit.
Olusola Sowemimo, Founder of Ope Farms, attended a Cancer Conference in California in 2013 and realised that 92% of the attendees were cancer survivors who have maintained their health through eating of certified organic foods.
At that point she decided that health conscious Nigerians also deserve to eat certified organic foods.
It was tough at the start and in the first two years, she struggled but by 2015, she had gained adequate knowledge from trainings and by reading books by renowned organic farmers to stabilise.
Today, Ope Farms supply produce like kale, lettuce, cucumbers, celery, many indigenous vegetables and fruits such as pawpaw, soursop, passion fruit etc to homes, supermarkets and restaurants.
Ope Farms have been featured on BBC and France24.
