#TipThursdayonMCZ Edition 6 | FOOD PURCHASE

My Cookery Zone is back this week with another edition of Tip Thursday, a segment on the platform where we share cooking / health tips on a Thursday. This week we share tips on purchasing food items under seven subheadings.

BUY FOOD THAT CAN ROT

Avoid buying too many preserved food items but rather buy food that is subject to rotten. Just make sure you eat it before it gets there or deteriorates completely.

SUBSTITUTE WITH VEGETABLES

Get extra vegetables instead of rice or potatoes.

BUY IN SEASON

Eat food that is currently being grown in season and you will have fresher, more environmentally in tune meals.

BUY ORGANIC

Get more nutrients out of your food by buying organic farm produce.

KEEP YOUR FOOD SEPARATE

Separate raw, cooked and ready to eat foods to avoid contamination. Right from where you purchase ensure you pay attention to this and sort where necessary.

WASH / CLEAN PRODUCE

Before you store it is important you clean the purchased items if necessary. This would kill unwanted bacteria from aiding the spoilage of the purchased produce.

STORE / CHILL

Sorting is still of great importance here as some of the purchased items might be stored in a fridge, chiller or pantry.
